Desmarais-Joseph named Keyano Huskies Athlete of the Week
Keyano College Huskies Athletics announced today that Men’s Volleyball student-athlete Kaylen Desmarais-Joseph (Winnipeg, Man.) has been named the Keyano Huskies Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 1, 2026.
Desmarais-Joseph played a leading role for the Men’s Volleyball team in their run at the 2026 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men’s Volleyball Championship in Red Deer, with the Huskies claiming a Silver medal.
“Kaylen was outstanding for us in both defense and serve receive,” Head Coach Keegan Kuhr said. “His consistency and composure anchored our backcourt all weekend long.”
Across 10 sets in three matches, Desmarais-Joseph recorded 21 digs along with 71 serve receptions to just six serve reception errors throughout the weekend. He was tied for fourth in digs per set (2.10) and named to the Tournament All-Star team.
“More importantly, he led the way with his presence and leadership on and off the court,” Kuhr continued. “Kaylen set the tone with his focus, competitiveness, and belief in the group when it mattered most. It’s a well-deserved recognition for a player who elevated everyone around him.”
Desmarais-Joseph led the Huskies with 122 digs in the 2025-26 regular season.
Men's Basketball, Futsal teams still to compete
Three more Keyano Huskies teams are still alive in the bid for ACAC Championships. The Keyano Huskies Men’s Basketball team will compete at their conference championship this weekend in Lloydminster, Sask.
Both Futsal teams will also compete for ACAC Championships in Medicine Hat March 20-22.
