Twin, Kopec named Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week
Keyano College Huskies Athletics announced today that Women’s Basketball student-athlete Jaylynn Twin (Slave Lake, Alta.) and Men’s Volleyball student-athlete Brody Kopec (Red Deer, Alta.) have been named the Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week for the week ending January 11, 2026.
Jaylynn Twin posted the eight and ninth double-digit performances of her season in a road weekend sweep for the Keyano Huskies Women’s Basketball team against the Lakeland Rustlers.
Across 49 minutes of action in the two games, Twin collected 37 points, 17 rebounds, four steals, two assists, and two blocks.
“Jaylyn had a solid weekend with demanding performance in the paint,” Head Coach Dwayne Vigilance said. “By the numbers, she was a dominant factor in all stat categories.”
In Friday’s 80-52 win, Twin collected another double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, adding in a pair of assists, steals, and blocks each. Saturday, in a 89-56 win, Twin had a season-high 22 points, adding seven rebounds and two steals.
In her fifth year with the Huskies, Twin is one of the program's leaders this season, averaging 12.9 points and 10.8 rebounds per game this season. Twin is currently on pace to achieve new season highs in points scored and total rebounds. Her 452 rebounds have her 48 rebounds away from an exclusive club to score 500 points and record 500 rebounds with the Huskies.
Brody Kopec was dialed in for the Keyano Huskies Men’s Volleyball team as they swept the Lakeland Rustlers twice at home. Across the two games, Kopec recorded 29 kills, eight digs, 3 blocks, and one service ace for the third-ranked team in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
“It was nice to have Brody back,” Head Coach Keegan Kuhr said. “He was very strong offensively for us and brought some block pressure this weekend that helped us.”
In Friday’s straight-sets victory, Kopec recorded 16 kills, three digs, and one block. Saturday, he added 13 kills, five digs, two blocks, and one ace.
The fifth-year outside hitter from Red Deer, Alta. Has appeared in 16 ACAC Regular Season games with the Huskies over the past two academic years, recording 144 kills, 52 digs, 14 blocks, and nine aces.
The Volleyball and Basketball Huskies are back on the court January 23 & 24, taking on the Concordia Thunder at home for volleyball and on the road for basketball.
