McLean, Torchia named Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week
Keyano College Huskies Athletics announced today that Women’s Soccer student-athlete Addyson McLean (Airdrie, Alta.) and Men’s Soccer student-athlete Tano Torchia (Kamloops, B.C.) have been named the Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 12, 2025.
The pair factored into strong results for both sides, with the Men’s Soccer Huskies earning two wins and a full six points while the Women’s Soccer Huskies took four points from their weekend results with a win and a draw.
“Addy did really well,” said Head Coach Niels Slotboom. “She’s slowly starting to understand that offensive side of her game. She’s always played as a fullback and more in the defensive side, which she’s been very good at.
“We’ve really been trying to push the in-possession part of her game and she’s responding really well. This weekend she got some goals out of it due to being in the right spot at the right time so it’s been great.”
After picking up a 4-0 win Saturday, McLean factored into Sunday’s 4-4 draw with a pair of goals, the first multi-goal game of her Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) career. McLean’s goals were the second and fourth goals of the game for the Huskies, giving them the lead in both instances.
Having appeared in 21 games for her ACAC career, McLean has scored four goals and added four assists.
On the Men’s side of the ball, Torchia extended his goal streak to four games with a pair of game-winning goals.
“Tano has been very solid,” Slotboom continued. “Every since the last couple of games where he found his footing and some confidence and some goals, we can see a huge difference where he’s leading our attack, he’s a menace to deal with for all the opposition.
“When he’s in the box, if he has a little bit of space, it’s in the back of the net right now, which is exactly what you’d want from your main attacking threat in the middle of the field.”
Saturday, Torchia scored the Huskies’ second goal in a 2-1 win in the 80th minute. Sunday, he open the scoring in the 45th minute as part of a 2-0 win.
For his ACAC career, Torchia has now appeared in 23 regular season games, scoring seven goals and adding four assists.
