Kehoe, Miller named All In Sports Den Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week
Keyano College Huskies Athletics announced today that Women's Volleyball student-athlete Saige Kehoe (Saskatoon, Sask.) and Men's Basketball student-athlete Keenan Miller (Columbia, Missouri) have been recognized as the All In Sports Den Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, November 3, 2024.
Both Kehoe and Miller secured weekend sweeps for their respective teams. The Women's Volleyball Huskies claimed two wins on the road to move to 4-0 on the season while the Men's Basketball Huskies as they extended the program's home regular season winning streak to 41 games.
Friday against the Olds College Broncos, Kehoe recorded four kills, three aces, and one block in a four-set win for the Huskies. Kehoe aided in the Huskies capturing the first two sets and recovering in the fourth set to close out the match. Saturday, Kehoe and the Huskies earned a reverse-sweep victory against the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens, topping their hosts in five sets after losing the opening two. Kehoe’s effort in the comeback netted her two kills, eight aces, three digs, and three blocks.
"She was a spark from the service line," Head Coach Tommy Sloan said. "I think it was 13 aces over the weekend and some really crucial ones, especially on the second day in the fourth set to get us back into that one. She really took off from the service line, brought some energy, and started to get going offensively as well."
The middle blocker from Saskatoon, Sask. is in her fourth year of eligibility studying Business Administration. Across four games with the Huskies, Kehoe has 10 kills, 14 aces, 10 digs, and eight blocks. Including her time spent at the College of the Rockies Avalanche, Kehoe has recorded 47 kills, 33 aces, 37 digs, and 57 blocks for her career in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
Across the two games, Miller contributed 42 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.
In Thursday’s 99-59 win against the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings, Miller scored 16 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals. As the Huskies pulled ahead in the second and third quarter, Miller contributed to that rise with 14 of the Huskies’ 54 points across the two quarters. He was also a perfect four-for-four on free throws throughout the game
Friday, Miller continued to have the hot hand with 26 points on the strength of eight-of-11 shooting from the field and another perfect four-for-four result from the free throw line. He also contributed four rebounds, three assists, and a steal in the game. From beyond the arc, the 2024 CCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Most Valuable Player was dialled in with six made three-point shots on six attempts.
“He continues to get better and he’s very efficient. It’s good to see him have a big game like that," Head Coach Jeremy Wielenga said. "When he’s left open, he’s going to make teams pay and he proved that on Friday night.”
Currently in his fourth year of eligibility studying Business Administration - Esports Management, the Columbia, Missouri product is averaging 20.3 points per game to begin the season, also averaging 4.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists on a per game basis. For his Huskies career, Miller has tallied 246 points, 101 rebounds, 39 assists, and 22 steals across 24 games.
