Horsley, Boateng named All In Sports Den Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week

Keyano College Huskies Athletics announced today that Women's Soccer student-athlete Norah Horsley (Fort McMurray, Alta.) and Men's Soccer student-athlete Kofi Boateng (Brampton, Ont.) have been recognized as the All In Sports Den Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 22, 2024. 

The pair played key roles on both sides of the ball as the Keyano Huskies Soccer teams both scored weekend sweeps of the Lakeland Rustlers in the Border City. The Women’s Soccer Huskies won 7-0 and 2-0 while the Men claimed victories by 3-1 and 2-1 margins.   

“Just solid individually,” Women’s Soccer Head Coach Tiffany Fontaine said of Horsley. “The first game especially, she’s adapting to the speed and the physicality of the ACAC and college level very well very quickly.  
 
“She stepped up when we needed her, just making sure there’s constant pressure, constant distribution. She’s disciplined, she’s reliable so we felt overall like she had a very strong weekend.” 

With Horsley in the centre back position, the Huskies conceded zero goals this weekend and have allowed three in total through their first five games.  

Boateng started both weekend games, scoring the third goal in Saturday’s 3-1 win for the first goal of his ACAC career!  

“He’s done great,” Head Coach Niels Slotboom said. “As soon as you give him something, he goes out and tries it to the best of his ability. It’s something as a coach that you can only wish for in every player.  

“We have a few of those, but Kofi’s one of those guys that we’ve asked different positions of, different responsibilities of since he’s joined us here and he’s done really. He took on a new position again this weekend and thrived so I’m looking forward to seeing what he contributes the rest of the season.”  

The Soccer Huskies return home on September 28-29 to host the NAIT Ooks at Shell Place. Kick-offs are scheduled for 2:00pm and 4:30pm Saturday with 12:00pm and 2:00pm kick-offs Sunday.  

Prior to Sunday’s kick-off for the Women’s game, there will be a ceremony in recognition of the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation.
