Men's Basketball Huskies cruise past Lions, tie for division lead
Seven different student-athletes finished in double digits as the Keyano Huskies Men's Basketball team cruised to a 107-61 victory Saturday night at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre.
Keenan Miller went six-for-nine from three-point range and finished with 22 points to lead the Huskies. Joyce Dumbu led the Huskies off the bench with 14 points, narrowly edging a 12-point performance from Efosa Omorogbe.
Tafari Carefoote-Jones netted 14, Deandre Rowe contributed 13, and the duo of DJ Haynes and Wan Deng each had 12 in the victory.
The Huskies bolted out to a 32-11 score after the first quarter, led 61-23 at the half. They then increased the lead by eight in the second half en route to the 46-point margin of victory.
Six Huskies shot north of 50% from the field as the team shot 48.2% (40-for-83) as a whole. Sixteen of those 40 makes came from beyond the arc while the Huskies also went 11-for-17 (64.7%) on free throws.
The Huskies are back on the court next January 9-10 in Lloydminster, Alta., taking on the Lakeland Rustlers. They'll play their first homes games of the first semester January 30 and 31 when they host the NAIT Ooks at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre.
