Evan Meyer named Most Valuable Player of ACAC Men's Basketball Championship
For the second time in his Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) career, Keyano Huskies Men’s Basketball student-athlete Evan Meyer has been named the Most Valuable Player of the ACAC Championship tournament.
Meyer was bestowed with the honour Saturday in Lloydminster, Sask. following the Huskies’ 86-79 victory against the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks.
“He’s so talented and skilled,” Head Coach Jeremy Wielenga said. “He’s a tough match up and he is a big part of our team success.”
Meyer averaged 17.0 points and 11.7 rebounds per game throughout the three-game tournament, capping off his tournament with 19 points and eight rebounds in the championship game.
Shootin 24-for-33 (72.7%) from the field, Meyer led all student-athletes in the tournament. He had 14 rebounds in the Huskies’ quarter-final win against the Briercrest Clippers and had 13 in Friday’s semifinal win against the SAIT Trojans.
Meyer was also crowned as the MVP of the 2024 ACAC Men’s Basketball Championship, hosted at Keyano College.
Meyer and the Huskies will now advance to the 2026 CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship, hosted by Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo, B.C.
