Men's Basketball Huskies top Clippers, advance to face Trojans in Championship semis
The Keyano Huskies Men's Basketball team advacned to the semifinals of the 2026 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Championship with a 100-79 win Thursday in Lloydminster, Sask.
Keenan Miller led the Huskies with 27 point while Evan Meyer, Deandre Rowe, and Joyce Dumbu also finished in double digits with 18, 15, and 10 points respectively.
In a rematch of last year's ACAC Championship game, the Clippers pushed the Huskies in the early going, but couldn't keep pace with the Huskies' offence in the second half. The Huskies won thefirst quarter 27-25 and won the second quarter by six points to lead by eight at the halftime break. A 26-15 third quarter put the Huskies ahead by 19 while a tight 25-23 fourth quarter pushed the Huskies to the win.
Meyer also collected 14 rebounds in the game to achieve the double double. Rowe dished out a team-leading six assists, one ahead of DJ Haynes.
Collectively, the Huskies shot 61.2% (41-for-67) from the field, making good on eight of 20 attempted three-point shots. They connected on 10 of 16 free throws in the match.
In the other three quarter-finals, the SAIT Trojans, Lethbridge Kodiaks, and Lakeland Rustlers all advanced to the semifinals as well.
The Huskies and Trojans will meet in Friday's first semifinal at 6:00pm. Seventy Two Kitchen and Patio at MacDonald Island will be hosting Friday's watch party.
