Jacob Marshall named 15th CCAA All-Canadian in Keyano Huskies history
November 6, 2024
Keyano College Huskies Athletics is proud to announce that Men's Soccer student-athlete Jacob Marshall has been named the 15th Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian in the history of the athletics program.
Following Alex Eby in 2012-13 and Pedro Bianchi in 2015-16, Marshall becomes the third Men's Soccer student-athlete to earn the honour. Marshall accepted the award at the 2024 CCAA Men's Soccer National Championship Banquet in Fredericton, New Brunswick Tuesday night.
"It’s an amazing feeling; I’m really thankful," Marshall said. "Everyone on the team has helped me grow a lot. It’s disappointing not to finish on a gold medal, but individually I’m really happy to be awarded this to finish my year."
A product of Burton-Upon-Trent, England, Marshall arrived at Keyano College for the 2019-20 academic year. Since then, the centre-back oversaw and guided the transformation of the Men’s Soccer Huskies into a Conference Champion during his five years with the program. He presided over a defence that became one of the stingiest in the conference and the country, netting a pair of ACAC Men's Futsal Championships as well. The team captured a Silver Medal at the 2024 ACAC Men's Soccer Championship, the sixth ACAC Soccer medal for the program since 2014.
"It’s a full-circle moment from him coming here prior to me being here, us having to rebuild somewhat of a program coming out of COVID and gradually growing," Men's Soccer Head Coach Niels Slotboom said. "Now in his fifth year and final soccer season, he gets one of the biggest honours you can get as a player."
Earlier this season, Marshall netted a hat trick for the first three goals of his collegiate career. While he carried a firm presence on the field towards opposition, Marshall's reputation for his kindness to others and his teammates extended well beyond the pitch.
In his ACAC Soccer career, Marshall appeared in 43 Regular Season games, starting 42 of them. In his five seasons with the Huskies, the program conceded 62 goals against in 54 games. He also appeared in nine ACAC Playoff games and four CCAA Championship games. With four career goals to his credit, all scored in the 2024 outdoor season, two stood up as game-winning goals.
Marshall was named to the ACAC's All-Conference team prior to the 2024 ACAC Men's Soccer Championship in Grande Prairie, Alta. last month.
